When purchasing silage covers, you need to understand what you are purchasing. There are two basic types, they are:
Silage covers, also known as covers for silage, are typically made from leather. The cover is laid out so that the cover stands up straight. There is no way to tell whether or not the cover is too loose until it is off of the silage truck. Loose silage covers can be a severe safety hazard, especially for taller drivers. It will be straightforward for your cover to fall, and then if it was to break, you could land with a broken neck or some other injury. Browse here for more information.
This type of cover is usually made from a thicker, heavier, and more durable material than regular plastic or leather cover, and is designed for heavy-duty use. Silage covers come in various styles, but they are usually not fitted with safety features such as latching or rollers to prevent them from falling off of the silage truck. Most of these silage covers are specifically designed to accommodate the more extended running of silage trucks, which are required to push the cover forward when the truck rolls over it.
Silage covers also come in two different thicknesses. The cheaper types are made from lighter material and are intended for medium or low-powered trucks. These covers are usually meant for smaller runs. They are not meant to support and protect the silage from being damaged by rolling over. For more information, browse here.
The more expensive silage covers are meant for medium and long run silage trucks. These covers are thicker and more durable but are also heavier and more difficult to drive over. Silage covers are used in more severe cases, as in cases where a huge weight is being carried on the silage truck. These kinds of covers are the most expensive of all.
If you are looking for a cheap cover, then the best thing to do is to pick up one that is at the overall thickness of the existing truck. This means that it will be able to handle any weight that you might add to it, but it will still not stand up to the strain. The cover will hold up, but it will not be able to handle much.
You can get a cover with a flexible or built-in material that can handle much more than the existing material. These materials make the cover much stronger, which is much better when going over long runs. Built-in materials are a lot less expensive than other silage covers, which allows you to pick up cheaper materials, which has the same level of strength.
Silage covers can be custom made. These custom made covers are made for a specific purpose, such as keeping your silage covered during the coldest months of the year. Custom silage covers are not for general usage, as they are specifically designed for one specific purpose. Browse here for more information.
